This Privacy Policy explains how Movier ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the Movier mobile app and this website. We built Movier to be privacy-first: you can start discovering movies without creating an account.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to make recommendations work:

  • Device identifier: a unique id generated on your device to save your preferences without requiring an account.
  • Account information (optional): if you sign in, your email and name, or a unique identifier from Google or Apple Sign-In.
  • Preferences and activity: the genres, eras and origins you choose, and your swipes (likes, skips) — used to build your taste profile.
  • Profile photo (optional): only if you choose to upload one.
  • App and device data: app language, time zone, app version and a push notification token (if you enable notifications).

2. How we use your information

  • To generate personalized, AI-assisted movie recommendations.
  • To save your watchlist and remember what you have seen and rated.
  • To send push notifications you have opted into (e.g. new recommendations).
  • To operate, secure and improve the app, and to understand aggregate usage.

3. Third-party services

We use trusted providers that may process limited data on our behalf:

  • OneSignal — push notification delivery.
  • Google Firebase / Analytics — anonymous usage analytics.
  • Google AdMob — advertising (free tier).
  • RevenueCat & Apple — subscription management and payments.
  • Google / Apple — optional account sign-in.

Movie data is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

4. Data retention and your rights

You can deactivate your account at any time from the app settings, which disables it and stops further processing. You may request access to or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at support@movierapp.com.

5. Children

Movier is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
